LIVINGSTON, NJ – On Monday, August 4, the Livingston Library hosted a night of food, games and story time for Muslim families celebrating the end of Ramadan. The event also served to bring the Livingston Muslim community together.

Families of all sizes came out to join one another in celebration. Foods like Jalebi and Gulab jamun were served. Guests also engaged in henna tattoo art, story time and the types of games and arts practiced amongst the Muslim community.

Guest Olena Nesteruk and her two-and-a half year old daughter Laura Chiparus engaged in Islamic Mosaic Art.

“We are here every Monday for story time but what better way is there than to come on a Monday to get story time, food and games,” said Nesteruk. “We love the library.”

Nesteruk added that she and her daughter “enjoy spending time at the Livingston Library” as they are a part of the community.

Nine-year-old Victor Serbaon tried his hand at crafts. His mother Costina Serban said that she is “very involved in the Livingston Library and their events.” She added that “the kids’ activities for her son are what bring me and my son here.”

Director of Youth Services Anna Coats said that she was “excited” that the turnout was great and that she “hopes the same happens for future events.
