Livingston High School Varsity Baseball Falls to Seton Hall Prep, 13-8

LIVINGSTON, NJ - On May 5, the Livingston High School Varsity Baseball team fell to Seton Hall Prep at the Livingston Oval, 13-8.

Livingston scored in the bottom of the first inning when #12 Omari Beaubien hit an RBI and ran home on an error made by the Seton Hall Prep’s first basemen on the next play. The score was 2-0.

During the third inning, the batter was hit by a pitch and Livingston was now up 3-0.

Livingston’s Mark Silvestri, the starting pitcher, didn’t let up any runs in the first three innings. In the fourth inning, Seton Hall Prep scored three more runs. Moments later, Seton Hall scored another run when #24 Shane McLaughlin made an incredible diving catch, but wasn’t able to get the ball to first in time for the third out.

On the top of the fifth inning, Seton Hall scored another two runs and made the score 6-3. Next, Mike Clienti came onto the mound to pitch for Livingston. But Livingston was held scoreless in the same inning.

In the sixth inning, the Seton Hall Pirates were on a roll and scored another four runs. After the scoring drive by Seton Hall, #32 Ben Gilman then took the mound and pitched for Livingston and hrld off the Seton Hall team for the rest of the inning.

In the sixth inning, Livingston scored five runs with RBI’s coming from Silvestri, Omari Beaubien, Tyler Zuppa, and Chris Conway, who had a three-run hit to left field.

Livingston was now down by two with the score of 10-8.

On the top of the seventh inning, Seton Hall Prep scored another three runs. Livingston wasn’t able to rally back and was defeated by Seton Hall Prep, 13-8.

Coach Schroeder of Livingston reflected on the game saying, “We hit the ball well, but we made too many mistakes and you can’t win a ball game with so many mistakes.”

The team is looking for a win today at 4:00 p.m. in Millburn.
