LIVINGSTON NJ- On Wednesday, Livingston High School (LHS) hosted a College and Career Fair.  At the fair, alumni and admissions designees represented over 150 colleges and universities in the Fitness and Wellness Center and Auxiliary Gym of the high school.  Members from the United States Army, Coast Guard, and Marine and Military Academies were also present.

Attendees included students from the sophomore and junior classes at LHS who are beginning to consider their plans after graduating high school. The students were given the opportunity to approach representatives from Rutgers, Essex County College, Montclair State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and more with questions and concerns.

Maggie Werner, a junior at LHS, conveyed her relief after talking to people from many of the colleges she is looking at and said, “One of my biggest concerns about college was taking classes in large lecture halls. I now know that many colleges and universities offer smaller classrooms, where I can get the personal help that I need.”

Other students said they found comfort in talking to representatives about their particular fields of interest. Prospective medical student, Sami Mindlin, said she benefitted from learning about the programs that various schools had to offer. “The information I received was very helpful,” Mindlin said. “It will definitely be a key factor in choosing the college that is right for me.”

In addition to receiving the option to speak to the representatives, students were also provided with brochures from each school. Information included expected grade point averages, SAT/ACT scores, available majors, financial aid and more.
