LIVINGSTON, NJ - Livingston Community Players presented Meredith Wilson’s "The Music Man" this weekend and last at Mount Pleasant Middle School.

President of LCP and co-producer, Phyllis Meranus told The Alternative Press that this year marked the 10-year anniversary of Livingston Community Players revival.

“The Board of Directors decided to have 'The Music Man' be the play of choice this year because it’s a high quality performance piece,” Meranus said.

She added that 'The Music Man' also incorporates both children and adults, which is a nice aspect to have.

In terms of the audition process and cast, treasurer, Paul Gomperz said that auditions began immediately after Labor Day and rehearsals started in mid-September.

“The actors in this production are extremely talented and a lot of them have had professional experience,” Gomperz said.

To name a few, cast members consisted of Mitchell Berger, Sydney Brenton, John Cataldo, Anne Cohen, Josh Cohen, Heather Crawford, Matt Crawford and David Dantowitz.

Co-Producer and Vice President of the nonprofit organization, Lois Dyer, said that Livingston Community Players ultimate goal is to bring arts to the town.

“The reviews that we’ve received so far have been amazing,” Dyer said. “Everyone in the cast and staff really pitched in to do everything and made it a wonderful performance.”

Dyer and Meranus explained that a lot of things have stood in their way, such as Hurricane Sandy, but everyone’s dedication, along with cooperation from the town have helped make the show a success.

Not only has the show fallen together when it was difficult to meet for rehearsal and work on the stage sets, but Livingston Community Players have also been known to collect several awards and nominations over the years from NJ ACT among others.
