LIVINGSTON, NJ – Livingston is celebrating Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) during the week of May 4-10, 2014.

Every day, over 250 employees in the Township of Livingston patrol the streets, extinguish fires, repair roads, administer vaccines, enforce laws, issue licenses, balance budgets, collect leaves, design roads and drainage improvements, perform safety inspections, hold programs, treat sewage, plow snow, and assist in countless ways.

In 2014, Livingston is highlighting the Fire Department as an example of the valuable work of the town’s public employees. The Fire Department is led by Chief Christopher Mullin and Assistant Chief Kevin Francione, and relies on Rossana Mattia, Bill Mollineaux, Craig Dufford, and Josh Lewis to keep it running smoothly. They perform vital functions to ensure that homes and businesses are constructed safely to prevent fire, and that the Fire Department’s equipment is kept up to date and is working properly. Many people also see the volunteer members of our Fire Department at work fighting fires or marching in parades. The entire 71-member Fire Department relies on these six people to provide a safe and well-maintained environment. That way, when a fire call comes in, everyone can concentrate on the business at hand: helping our residents.

“The work that Chris, Kevin, Rossana, Bill, Craig and Josh do every day provides crucial support to the entire organization, which contributes to the efficient delivery of services to our residents,” said Township Manager Michele Meade.

They are just one example of the dozens of highly productive and competent work teams that provide services for the Township of Livingston. I am proud to be associated with them.”

Celebrated since 1985, Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) is a nationwide public education campaign honoring the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees and insure that our government is the best in the world. Each year, the President and Congress designate the first full week of May as PSRW and activities are held nationwide and around the world in celebration of public employees who put service above self.

Livingston began its annual celebration of PSRW in 2009 in order to highlight the important work that our local public employees do for the citizens of the community every day.
