LIVINGSTON, NJ – The Livingston Lancers Boys’ Lacrosse team came up short against the Pingry Big Blue in a 13-10 loss at home on Friday night.

The Lancers, fueled by the emotions of Senior Night, got off to a fast start. Senior Dylan Kruse ignited the offense winning the majority of the face-offs. Early in the game, the Lancers were able to capitalize on their opportunities, getting goals from junior Brandon Flaherty, senior Jake Hoffer, and senior Billy Mandl, propelling them to a 4-3 lead after one quarter.

Pingry, however, would soon settle down, taking an 8-6 lead at the half. The Big Blue used their halftime momentum to reel off four straight goals in the third quarter to give them an almost insurmountable lead over the Lancers.

Despite being down big in the fourth quarter, the Lancers charged back led by Hoffer and Mandl.

“I can never doubt my players when we’re down because they always play with so much effort.” Head Coach Brad Dzama said.

Ultimately, the deficit the Lancers faced in the third and fourth quarters proved to be too large, resulting in defeat. Leading the Lancers in scoring on the night was Hoffer, who netted five goals, followed by Mandl who scored three goals.

“With the state tournament coming up next week, there’s always things we can improve on, but if we play like we did tonight, I think we can make a deep run.” Dzama said.

The loss on Friday night drops the Lancers’ record to 14-4 on the season. On Monday afternoon, May 12, the Lancers will travel to Morris Catholic, looking to get back on track before state tournament play begins.
