WESTFIELD, NJ - The doors to Limani Seafood Grill in Westfield opened in December 2008, and by the May 2012 issue of New Jersey Monthly Magazine, it was listed as one of their favorites throughout the state. 

 

“I’ve been in the restaurant and catering business for 35 years,” said Chef-Proprietor George Vastardis. “I learned the trade from my father, Michael. He was a trained chef who honed his skills aboard trans-Atlantic cruise ships.” 

 

When asked about the genesis of the word “Limani”, Vastardis explained. “Limani is the Greek word for ‘seaport.’  Piraeus, my home, is well-known for its harbors, restaurants, and seafood taverns. It is the largest seaport community in Greece.”

 

“As a family,” he continued, “we fished daily. We’d grill all of our own seafood and whole fish. At Limani, we prepare and serve fresh seafood with a Greek flare.”

 

According to the current Zagat Survey of New Jersey Restaurants, “Limani Seafood Grill ranks number 3 in the state.” 

 

“We provide the best oysters, the absolutely best crabmeat, jumbo shrimp, and the best clams and mussels,” he continued. “When dining out with a group of friends, do order our Seafood Tower. It arrives filled with all of our seafood, plus King Crab Legs and Lobster Tails.”

 

Visitors to Limani are impressed with  their vast menu selections. On any given night Limani's menu features at least 30 different varieties of fresh fish which has been flown in from all over the world. Desserts are all prepared in-house, and they are all delicious. And so are the dinner rolls.
