WESTFIELD, NJ—On Wednesday, Jan. 30, The Westfield Area Y will offer child sexual abuse prevention training from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street in Westfield.

By partnering with Darkness to Light's nationally accredited and award-winning Stewards of Children program, which provides awareness and training to adults on the subject of childhood sexual abuse, The Westfield Area Y hopes to help protect children within the community.

For a fee of $10, members of the community can attend this program, designed to educate adults in ways to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, an agonizing and traumatic experience for its victims and a crime punishable by law. The training session will build awareness about what to look for and steps to follow to protect children.

Register in advance and in person at the welcome center at the Main Y Facility. Call Janice A. Carthens at 908-233-2700 x227 or email jcarthens@westfieldynj.org with any questions.

The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Visit www.westfieldynj.org to learn more about Westfield Area Y programs. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
