Lancers Boys Varsity Lacrosse Loses to Morristown-Beard, 18-14

LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Livingston boys varsity Lacrosse team lost to Morristown-Beard School, 18-14, on Thursday afternoon. Ranked No. 17 in the Star-Ledger, Morristown- Beard loomed as a tough competitor.

The first quarter ended with a tie of two goals for each team. But when the second quarter rolled around, Morristown-Beard raised the intensity, scoring eleven goals. Livingston picked up two more goals, making the halftime score 13-4 in favor of Morristown-Beard.

The third quarter started with a bang for Livingston. Excellent defense from juniors Greg Glassman and Brandon Stone (goalie) and sophomore Jason Rosell put a stop to the Morristown-Beard offense, who only put two points on the board. Stellar offensive play by juniors Tommy Heller (who led the team with seven total goals and two assists) and Brendan Flaherty (one goal) and senior Billy Mandl (two total goals) gave Livingston five points in the third quarter. The third quarter ended with a score of 15-9, in favor of Morristown Beard.

With the gap closing, the Lancers came out hard in the fourth quarter. Their offense played masterfully and scored five goals. Unfortunately, it was not enough. Morristown-Beard played a strong fourth quarter and scored three goals—enough to secure the lead. The final score was 18-14 in favor of Morristown-Beard.

The team is looking to use what it learned against Morristown-Beard, when it faces Mount Olive in an away game on Saturday, April 12, at 7:00 p.m.
