CHATHAM, NJ - Jordan Kahn's basket with 50 seconds left in the game helped undefeated Millburn hold on for a 42-38 victory over Chatham on Saturday night in the second round of the Cougar Classic basketball tournament.
The 6-5 senior missed the first shot, but got the rebound and finished his second chance to stake Millburn (4-0) to a 41-36 edge.
"It was a huge relief when it went in," Kahn said. "I went up strong with the second shot."
Max Jacobs drove the baseline for a basket and Ben Kizel hit a jumper to give Millburn an early 4-0 lead that it never lost. Chatham (2-2) played from behind and never managed to tie the game.

"Millburn put forth a great effort sharing the ball and did a pretty good job of breaking our press," said Chatham senior Luke Conrad, who finished with a game-high 18 points. "We definitely left some things on the floor; missed shots and some key plays where we couldn't get it done.
"We're a team that prides ourselves on energy. I know we'll put a better effort in our next game and get a better result. We came out a little flat."
Aidan Favia's 3-pointer at the buzzer sent Millburn into the break with a 23-16 lead. But, after trailing, 33-21, in the third quarter, Chatham used its press to close out the third quarter with a 9-0 run, slicing the deficit to 33-30.
Greg Mah sparked the Cougar rally with a 3-pointer from the top of the key and Conrad followed with a steal he turned into a layup. Logan Loeloff then converted a pass from Stefan Goles before Conrad capped the streak with a drive for two.
Kahn made a foul shot and Jacobs nailed a 3-pointer to give Millburn a 37-30 lead early in the fourth quarter.
"Coach (Rodger Blind) told us that this was the toughest team we were going to play and he was definitely right," Kahn said.
Jacobs finished with 14 points and Kahn had 13 for Millburn.
