SHORT HILLS, NJ - Back by popular demand, Johnny on the Green’s 16th Annual Halloween party will be held at Ravello’s in East Hanover, hosted by owner and operator of Johnny’s on the Green for 17 years, John Marrone and daughter Jessica.
“We’ve been doing it for 16 years and it’s always been a great success and a lot of fun because everybody gets together to show off their costumes,” Marrone said. “There’s great entertainment and enthusiasm. Every year more people come,” Marrone said.
Marrone added that over 200 people in all age groups have been in attendance in past years and the party is open to the public.
Marrone said that although the restaurant is currently closed, he is seeking another location for reopening.
“Even though the restaurant closed, we didn’t want to disappoint our patrons who look forward to the party every year,” Marrone said. “We are having it at Ravello’s because it’s a local restaurant with fine food.”
Marrone’s daughter, Jessica added that another important reason why the she and John are throwing the Halloween party this year is to show that the restaurant is still alive.
“We want to show people that Johnny’s on the Green is still alive. It’s a local landmark that’s located between Short Hills and Livingston,” Jessica said. “All of our regular patrons are really excited about the Halloween party to celebrate the restaurant even though it’s at another location this year.”
According to Marrone, prizes will be awarded to those with the best costumes.
The first prize winner will receive an Atlantic City Getaway premier room one night stay with a dinner voucher to IL Capricio. Other prizes include a day of beauty at Salon Profilia, a $200 voucher for Yellow Corners Limited Edition Artwork and gift certificates for dinner for two at Cielo’s Restaurant in Fairfield, Above Restaurant in South Orange, and Martini’s Restaurant in Millburn.
Among the three judges will be actor Richard Klein, best known as Jack Tripper's friend Larry from the sitcom "Three’s Company."
“We are supporting and working with local businesses and local celebrities; that’s why this event is so special,” Jessica said. “We are drawing from the local community to bring the event together. It’s important to support local businesses in this economy.”
Tickets are $55 at the door and $50 if ordered early. For tickets, call Jessica at 862-245-1923.
