JCC Looks for a Few Good Mud Runners

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - Want to get down and dirty with your friends this summer?
 
The JCC of Central New Jersey is in the organizing teams for three different Mud Runs this summer.
 
Athletes of any skill level are encouraged to participate. The training regimen that Steven DeAngelis, general manager of Fitness at The JCC of Central New Jersey, recommends includes: box jumps, treadmill interval training, sit-ups, and pushups on the knees.  Many of the training exercises mimic the obstacle course -- army crawling and rope climbing, for example.  
 
“It’s a community event focused on accomplishment and fun,” DeAngelis said. “You don’t have to be in tremendous shape to participate.  If it gets too difficult you can go around the obstacles.”
 
Registration is now open with the goal of having three co-ed teams of 10 people. Participants range in age from 16 to 50.   The JCC will enter teams in the following events:
 
Tri-State New Jersey Dirty Girl Mud Run (5K)

New Jersey Rugged Maniac (5K)

Location: Raceway Park, Englishtown, NJ
Time: 10:45 a.m.
"Rugged Maniac returns to New Jersey for itsfourth annual event with over 20 epic obstacles desiged to push you to your limits! You'll face mud pits, fire, tubes, the 60' water slide, swinging pendulums"
 
New Jersey Warrior Dash (5K)
Team Captain: Matt Sych
Team Name: JCC Central
Date: August 2, 2014
Location: Lewis Morris County Park, Morristown, NJ
"The obstacle list may include: Goliath, Muddy Mayhem, Trenches, Cargo Climb, and Storming Normandy."
