The Michael T. McCormick Jr. Memorial Foundation received a $5,000 grant from The Allstate Foundation as a part of their Hand-in-Hand program thanks to local Allstate New Jersey agent Jim Fitzsimmons. Because of Fitzsimmons’ tremendous volunteerism and dedication to the local community he received funding for the Michael T. McCormick Jr. Memorial Foundation to continue their work to encourage young people to attain higher education so that they may achieve personal growth and reach their career goals.
This year, The Allstate Foundation is honoring its 60th Anniversary and is recognizing agency owners across the country that embody what it means to be committed to community through the Hand-in-Hand program. The program encouraged owners and personal financial representatives to advocate for the nonprofit organizations of their choice and share why their favorite nonprofit deserved to be recognized.
“The Hand-in-Hand program provided me with another opportunity to give back to the community where I work and live,” said Fitzsimmons, who owns Allstate New Jersey agencies in Summit and Springfield. “Allstate has a strong commitment to communities through their support of countless nonprofit organizations around the country. I’m proud to say that The Michael T. McCormick Jr. Memorial Foundation is one of those organizations supported by Allstate.”
The Michael T. McCormick, Jr. Memorial Foundation is a scholarship fund founded in 2009 in memory of Michael T. McCormick, Jr. of West Orange, NJ. Michael was killed in a tragic automobile accident on August 2, 2009, the day after his 19th birthday.
In addition to the Hand-in-Hand program, The Allstate Foundation awards nonprofit organizations with Allstate Agency Hands in the Community grant in honor of dedicated Allstate agency owners who give back to their communities through outstanding volunteerism. To be eligible for nomination, Allstate agency owners must volunteer, mentor, or lead a nonprofit of their choice.
