Hurricane Isaac to Continue Dumping Rain, Storms Throughout Area
Tuesday, September 4, 2012 • 5:40pm
Local and state officials are warning residents that the remnants of Hurricane Isaac will continue to lash the area through Wednesday.
Flash flood advisories, watches and warnings have been cropping up for Morris, Essex and Union counties.
“Be alert for ponded water on the roadways, a frequent result of flash flooding,” said the NJ State Police in a statement. “Do not try to drive or walk through standing water.”
The National Weather Service says wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are possible with these storms, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightening is occurring. The NWS cautions people not to seek shelter under trees when lightening threatens and to move indoors when a thunderstorm approaches.
