How to Create a Winning LInkedIn Profile at the Westfield Memorial Library
Wednesday, October 16, 2013 • 8:00pm
The Westfield Memorial Library is happy to bring Blackbird Learning Associates back to the library to present, “How to Create a Winning LinkedIn Profile” on Saturday, November 2 at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.
Nancy Anderson, President of Blackbird, said, “Most employers automatically turn to LinkedIn to research potential job candidates and a recent poll said that 89% of companies plan to recruit through LinkedIn. If you don’t have a LinkedIn profile, you will miss out on some valuable job search opportunities.”
This fast-paced program takes you through the steps needed to design a strong, complete, “All Star” LinkedIn profile. You will create an accounting of your work experience including a Summary Statement, Experience, Skills, Education and Outside Activities. You will also learn the technique needed to be seen on the first three pages of a LinkedIn People Search.
Ms. Anderson has over 25 years experience in Human Resources, Learning and Development, and Relationship Management in the pharmaceutical, finance and insurance industries. In her career she has led the training projects for many high-profile company initiatives such as Johnson & Johnson, the CIT Group, The Bank of New York and the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies.
During her career, she has trained thousands of domestic and international employees. Ms. Anderson is the author of “Job Search for Moms,” published in 2010. She is currently working on her second job search book and anticipates a 2013 release. She recently presented a program at the library entitled, “Job Search Skills for the 40+ Years Worker,” and drew a capacity crowd.
You must register for this class as seating is limited. You may bring your own laptop or tablet, but please let the Library know if you need to use one of theirs. November 13 is a repeat of November 2, so please do not sign up twice.
The event is free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries. Check our website to see if your library participates.) To register for the program, visit the library’s website at www.wmlnj.org, click on the Calendar link, or call 908.789.4090 ext 0.
