Hopatcong Football Team Beats Whippany Park, 20-7

WHIPPANY, NJ - The Hopatcong High School football team came away with a 20-7 victory over Whippany Park Saturday afternoon in Whippany.
A pair of second-quarter touchdowns gave Hopatcong, which is now 3-2, a 14-0 lead. Thomas Rieg, who finished with 110 yards on 20 carries, ran for a 20-yard touchdown and Ryan Clarke passed to Stephen Rogers for a 10-yard touchdown play in the second period.
Johann Lara's 10-yard run in the third period extended Hopatcong's lead to 20-0. Whippany Park scored its only TD in the final quarter.
The Hopatcong defense was led by Kevin Mulharin, who made two interceptions, and Nick DeFranco, who sacked Whippany Park's quarterback twice.
