Luna Stage opens its 21st season with the world premiere of a new comedy by Ben Clawson - Montclair-based Wunderkind playwright. The High Water Mark opens Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and runs through Sunday, Nov. 10.

"In vino veritas. There’s truth in wine."

"Then what's there in vodka?"

"...trouble."

The High Water Mark begins as Janet is jolted and awakened late one night by the unexpected arrival of Lily, her recently estranged friend – drunk and on the prowl. After a rough year, Janet just wants to sleep before returning to work in the morning. But Lily has other ideas. Wine is poured and secrets are brought to life, as these two women navigate the night, their relationship, and the roads that lie ahead.

The production, directed by Luna Stage's Artistic Director Cheryl Katz, has scheduled shows on consecutive days: Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Talkbacks with Clawson, presenting his second premiere at the theatre, follow performances on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

This two-woman show features leading ladies Andrea Maulella, as the recently-divorced teacher, Janet, and Sabrina Profitt playing the outspoken friend, nostalgically referred to as “strong Lily” throughout the play by her on-stage counterpart. Off-Broadway actress Maulella and Philadelphia-based actress Profitt – in her debut performance at Luna Stage – hash out a lifetime of friendship in this funny and moving play.

Ticket prices range from $25 to $35 with discounts offered to students at $10. Season passes are also available. Show tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online at www.lunastage.org or by calling (973) 395-5551.

The mission of Luna Stage is to produce thought-provoking theatre that gives voice to emerging American playwrights and re-examines contemporary and classic plays that speak to our times.
