The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey’s new Art Gallery, recently opened on campus here, will celebrate the inaugural exhibitions with a reception on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The gallery is located in L-Wing, adjacent to the Performing Arts Center.
The inaugural exhibitions include works by Visual Arts Faculty Marilyn Brent, Alfonso Corpus, Frank Kallop, Michael McGarvey, Jedediah Morfit, Hannah Ueno and Wendel White. The other part of the exhibition is a collection of recent paintings by David Ahlsted, a retired former Stockton faculty member. The event is free and open to the public.
“This new facility is comparable the very best galleries one would see in New York or San Francisco,” Stockton President Herman J. Saatkamp said. “It is a superb venue to display the works of talented artists.”
The gallery has two levels. The lower gallery contains approximately 2,250 square feet with 183 feet of wall space. The upper gallery features a floor cutout overlooking the lower gallery and also is approximately 2,250 square feet with 163 feet of wall space.
The lower gallery will show the visual arts faculty exhibition. In the upper gallery, Ahlsted’s solo exhibition features a selection of painted studies for his commissioned murals in the new Campus Center. Ahlsted’s four murals, New Jersey Pine Barrens: Spring, Summer, Fall Winter were permanently installed in the Campus Center Grand Hall last year and may be viewed there during regular Campus Center hours.
The inaugural exhibitions may also be viewed through February 22 during regular gallery hours: Monday-Saturday: 12 noon until 7:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12-4 p.m.
All Stockton Art Gallery events are sponsored by the Visual Arts Faculty, School of Arts and Humanities of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.

The refined flavors of the Italian and French Riviera will arrive on shore at Revel this spring with a new culinary creation from critically acclaimed chef Alain Allegretti. Azure by Allegretti brings together the flavors of Chef Allegretti’s culinary experiences in the kitchen with his Italian grandmother, the Michelin-starred restaurants of Jacques Maximin and Alain Ducasse, as well as his own restaurant in New York City, La Promenade des Anglais. Chef Allegretti’s restaurant will be a cornerstone of fine dining at Revel, the 6.3-million-square-foot beachfront resort opening in Atlantic City.
As a complete entertainment destination, Revel will encompass more than a dozen other restaurants, two nightclubs, a private beach club, more than 1,800 guest rooms, retail shops, a 31,000-square-foot spa, two theaters that seat 5,500 and 700 guests respectively and a 150,000-square-foot casino. Opening later this year, Revel will bring a true resort option to the Northeast, enhanced by entertainment and lifestyle offerings designed by top performers in daylife, nightlife, theatrical, spa, and experiential programming.
Azure by Allegretti captures the sun-kissed glamour of the Italian and French Riviera, raising the seaside dining experience in the region to a new level. A native of Nice, Chef Allegretti pairs the flavors of his Italian heritage with his own French culinary pedigree to create a modern take on Riviera classics. Features of Allegretti’s menu will include handmade pastas, Mediterranean whole fish, a raw bar, and composed dishes from the land and sea, accompanied by a renowned wine list.
The ocean view restaurant space of Azure by Allegretti will be accented by Christian Lacroix curtains and vibrant azure blue tiled floors, evocative of its coastal inspiration. Diners can enjoy a peek behind the scenes with an open exhibition kitchen or retreat to a sunset-inspired private dining room for a cozier experience.
“Revel is such an inspiring addition to Atlantic City,” said executive chef Alain Allegretti. “I am excited to bring some of my favorite flavors from the Riviera and present them with a fresh take in this dramatic oceanfront setting. Azure is poised to provide a backdrop for a romantic date, a celebratory dinner or a fun night out with friends.”
Automotive manufacturers from around the world will be showing off their latest pre-production models at the 2012 Philadelphia Auto Show, which runs from January 28 to February 5 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Consumers can expect to see these yet-to-be-manufactured 2013 models in local dealerships within the next year.
“Part of the excitement of the Philadelphia Auto Show, for both consumers and dealers, is having the opportunity to check out these brand new models before they hit local showrooms,” said Kevin Mazzucola, executive director of the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia. “And this year, our lineup of pre-production models is one of the largest we’ve had in years. This lineup is truly a testament to how important the Philadelphia Auto Show is to the retail sales market in our country. The market is expanding in overall sales and it’s vitally important for these manufacturers to bring new product to the marketplace that resonates with the consumer.”
