Hazards Keep Westfield’s Elementary Schools Closed for Now

WESTFIELD, NJ—It isn’t lack of electricity keeping Westfield’s elementary schools closed today. According to Police Chief David Wayman, who surveyed the areas around the schools, the elementary schools still have too many safety hazards around them to allow students to come back.
Westfield High School, Edison Intermediate School and Roosevelt Intermediate schools reopened today, with a delayed opening due to snow. Via Westfieldnjk12.org, Rich Mattessich, president of the Westfield Board of Education, called the opening of the three schools “a start.”
Parents are being reminded to update the Honeywell Messaging Alert system if needed at www.westfieldnjk12.org/alert.
