Harvest Time in Westfield

The Farmers’ Market, at the South Avenue train station in Westfield, presented by The Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce is in full swing for the fall. Every Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., through Oct. 25, the lot is filled with vendors from all over the state.

The GWACC has put the market together successfully for many years, and this year is no exception. Arrive early and taste breakfast empanadas and coffee from Michelle’s on Prospect or fresh made juice from The Juice House. Our farmers include Donaldson Farms, Peaceful Valley, Skeba Farms, all with top notch local produce, sure to entice the palates of all who stop at their tents.

Fresh pastas from Nicola’s Pasta Fresca in Westfield would go very nicely with oils and balsamic vinegars from Patricia & Paul’s. For dessert, stop at La Petit Temptation for a few pastries or The Lithuanian Bakery for some fine baked goods.

There’s always plenty of snacking with Gourmet Nuts & Fruit, Top of the Mountain Honey Bee Farm and Mo’Pweeze Bakery for gluten-, nut- and wheat-free cakes. Of course, there are entirely prepared meals available at Paolo’s Kitchen. High Mountain Foods can supply a variety of cheeses, pickles, pizzas, pastas and raviolis. New to the market this year, we are happy to have Glenmalure Farms, which provides a selection of grass-fed beef and lamb and free-range chicken. So as you can see, there is quite a variety of vendors to placate every palate. We hope to see you there!

Don’t forget, this year’s Festifall will be held in the streets of Downtown Westfield on Sunday, September 21 at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., rain or shine.

For over 60 years, the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce (GWACC) has been working to promote the economic prosperity of the businesses in our area. The GWACC is simply a community of business owners, and operators, who have relationships, and support one another.

We at the GWACC understand that there are compelling business reasons for business people in adjacent towns to build relationships with one another; to identify opportunities for partnering, to make referrals, and to buy from one another. Our members are primarily in Westfield, Garwood, Mountainside, Fanwood and Scotch Plains.

The GWACC hosts 2 street fairs a year in Downtown Westfield and operates the Westfield Farmer’s Market. Our monthly open networking events--one in the early morning and one directly after work--serve as an opportunity for current members to network with each other regularly, and for prospective members to come see what we're all about.

For more information about the GWACC, please visit our website, www.westfieldareachamber.com, where you will also find links to our active Facebook and Twitter accounts.  You may also call our office, (908)233-3021, to speak to staff directly Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Our office is located at the top of the Bank of America building, 173 Elm Street, 3rd Fl, Westfield, NJ 07090.
