SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – The Township of Scotch Plains is currently sponsoring a Handyman Program designed to provide assistance to Fanwood and Scotch Plains seniors by providing minor repairs and improvements.
Some of the repairs that can be provided include repairing windows, screens, shelves, and railings, replacing locks and door handles, changing fuses, and installing fixtures and switches. These minor repairs are designed to keep a senior’s home in good condition overall.
In order for seniors to qualify for the program, they must be a resident of Fanwood and Scotch Plains, by 62 years of age or older, and have an income level that is either less than $43,050 for those that are single and /or less than $49,200 for married couples.
The senior citizen requesting the Handyman Service is only responsible for the cost of the materials, as funding for this program is provided through a Union County Development Block Grant. To apply, call 908-322-6700 ext. 223.
