Halloween Fun at the Scotch Plains Library
Thursday, October 25, 2012 • 7:00pm
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – The Scotch Plains Library hosted a Teen Halloween Costume Party last night, with prizes, spooky crafts, a mummy contest, games and a candy swap.
Teens in grades 7 to o12 were invited for a night of spooktacular fun. Some came dressed as their favorite book character. They watched the first episode of the Addams Family, followed by a trivia quiz, made miniature graveyards with chocolate tombstones, and had fun with a “make your own mummy” contest. The library provided snacks, and there was a candy swap.
On hand to assist in the ghoulish fun was Robin Stayvas, the teen and reference librarian; Maribeth Fisher, a library intern; and Pam Brooks, the head of adult services and reference.
Teens in Grade 7 through 12 are invited to join the Teen Advisory Board, which meets once a month to help plan events, create displays, and discuss books. If you have ideas to share and want to be an active part of your library, this is the perfect way to get involved and let your voice be heard. The next meeting will be Thursday, October 25 at 4:30pm.
On Saturday, November 3 the library will be celebrating International Games Day. Libraries around the world will set aside time and space that day for you to learn a new game or enjoy an old favorite with family and friends. You can sign up to play simultaneous chess against a ranked player or to join our Mario Kart Competition. Other types of games will be available all day.
