ROSELAND, NJ- Half Saint Valentine’s Day on August 14 is an event that encourages the community’s support of local businesses.
The idea was born out of the realization that this past Valentine’s Day proved less than profitable for local small businesses due to the stormy weather. A group of local business owners and politicians such as Mayor Ann Dassing of Caldwell and Councilman Richard Leonard of Roseland were concerned with the effect the storm had on local businesses and brainstormed a way to boost economy with Half Saint Valentine’s Day.
Leonard said Half Saint Valentine’s Day takes place exactly six months after Saint Valentine’s Day. It is a non-government funded event and a way to generate community involvement in order to support the local businesses in their own and neighboring towns. The businesses that are participating in the Half Saint Valentine’s Day event thus far include: Cloverleaf Tavern in Caldwell, Caldwell Flowerland and Gennaros Cucina of West Caldwell.
Residents can help by choosing to visit these participating businesses.
