Ground Search Halted for Missing David Bird Until Jan. 13, Aerial Search Continues

LONG HILL TOWNSHIP, NJ - Due to darkness, the search for missing man David Bird has been suspended for the day. Active operations will begin again first thing in the morning on Jan. 13.

The New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit will be overhead in the Millington area this evening continuing the search for David Bird. There is no need to worry if you hear or see a low flying helicopter. 

The Long Hill Township Police Department appreciate everyone's continued cooperation and would like to thank the following agencies that helped cover a very large wooded rugged area today:

Bird has been missing since approximately 4:30 p.m. on Jan.12 and has missed a needed dose of medication. Area residents  are urged to check cars, garages and outbuildings on their property.

Anyone with information should contact the Incident Command Post at 908-647-1800, option 1, extension 236 until further information is posted.
