PHILADELPHIA, PA – Green Brook resident Amy Regan broke the Steven’s Institute of Technology speed record in the 5000 meter race at the Penn Relays on Thursday.  Regan’s time of 16:44.66 broke the school record by 19 seconds.

Regan’s result was also the best of any Division III competitor at the nation's largest track meet, 38 seconds ahead of the next closest runner in the division.  Across all divisions, Regan finished 10th in a field of 28.

Regan is a sophomore at Steven’s Institute of Technology, and is studying Engineering Management. She graduated from Watchung Hills High School in 2012 where she ran cross country and played lacrosse.

The Penn Relays are hosted annually by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia during the last full week in April, and is the oldest and largest college track and field competition in the United States.  The competition was first held in 1895, a year before the first Olympics.
