Governor Livingston Football Kicks Off The Season With Barbecue

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - A picture perfect day for the Second Annual Football Family Barbecue on Saturday, August 24 at Governor Livingston High School. The day started early for the coaches and players with conditioning and offense, defense, and special teams practice. These dedicated athletes looked forward to the barbecue immediately following the full training session. The barbecue served as a meet and greet for families and coaches, while the players socialized outside of their normal practice routine. Team spirit and comradery builds stronger teams.
Coach Dan Guyton is starting his first season as head coach of Governor Livingston’s Varsity Football Team. Guyton is the third head coach in three years. He is pleased with the hard work the team is putting out and is looking forward to the season. The scrimmages have been played well, matched against similar lines. As a coach, he feels that each player knows he has competition for his position, and hard work and skill will determine the starting line up. He has talent on the team, and he anticipates a successful season.
The parents were able to meet the coaches and chat on a social level. Coach Guyton and wife, Lindsey, a second grade teacher at Hughes School, enjoyed their time mingling with the GL football parents. Did you know they were contestants on a Honeymoon Special of Wheel of Fortune in 2012?
The Football Booster Club prepared the hamburgers and hotdogs and worked their magic in the Snack Shack kitchen. A real team effort to kick off the 2013 Football Season with spirit and fun.
