BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Governor Livingston Highlanders celebrated senior night honoring seven seniors and their parents.

This year’s seniors include the three captains: Mark Ripley, Eric Bland and Carl Ganger; defenseman Nick Mastrandrea, and forwards Frank Servello, Corey Burns and Matt Tinnirella.

The game started with each senior giving flowers to their mom and getting a picture with their parents.

The Highlanders were on fire in the second period, with a goal from Bland, and Mastrandrea scoring from the point. With six minutes left in the second period, Governor Livingston was up 3-1. Mastrandrea shot another from the point, which JP Blasch finished off for a Highlander goal.

With one minute left in the period, Servello scored again for Governor Livingston, bringing the score to 5-1. Adding to the game excitement, the Governor Livingston players threw t-shirts into the crowd between the second and third period. The winners of the ice hockey basket raffles were chosen by three elementary school children from the ice hockey pipeline.

Third period resulted in one Dayton goal, for a final score of 5-2. Governor Livingston played a strong game with 40 shots on goal, and Dayton had 23 shots on goal. Matt Altomare had a number of saves for Governor Livingston.

As players move on, the Junior Highlander pipeline continues to provide development opportunities for our youth in Berkeley Heights, Mountainside, and New Providence. The Junior Highlander pipeline facilitates and raises awareness of clinics, leagues, and coaches that bring future Governor Livingston players together in developmental and fun environments for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
