BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Gov. Livingston faced Rahway Saturday, Oct. 5 at home after a strong victory last Friday under the lights.
"It was amazing to see the total community support for our team on Friday Night! It seemed as if everyone was there. The GL student body, GL faculty members, PAL players, player's family members, former GL football players and GL football fans all came out to make it an incredibly special night for the GL Football Family and the entire community. Our players fed off the energy and excitement of the fans. I couldn't be more proud of my players and their performance. They continue to work incredibly hard to improve and have made a commitment to excellence. It was great to see their hard work pay off!" said Coach Guyton of the community support at last Friday’s game.
Unfortunately, Gov. Livingston lost on home turf Saturday against Rahway 35-0. Fans and players wore pink in honor of the month of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. While Rahway scored a touchdown in every quarter, Gov. Livingston persisted until the end.
"We showed at times what our team is capable of but we just need to do that more consistently," said Senior Ryan Jennings.
“We have been working hard and we will continue to work hard. We are confident everything will fall into place,” said sophomore Matt Bruno on the season outlook.
Gov. Livingston will be on the road next Saturday, Oct. 12 against Hillside High School, 2 p.m. kick off.
