WESTFIELD, NJ - Today, Google's homepage paid tribute to Charles Addams, former Westfield resident and creator of The Addams Family, on the celebration of the deceased cartoonist's 100th birthday.  Google's legendary logo was replaced on its homepage by a cartoon of The Addams Family, seen here.

Ron MacCloskey, who has spearheaded recognition for Charles Addams in Westfield and is an unofficial historian regarding the late Mr. Addams and The Addams Family, told TheAlternativePress.com, "This morning I gave a lecture on Addams at the Westfield Library in tribute to his 100th birthday. We had an excellent turnout."

He continued, "I am so pleased that someone at Google feels so strongley about Addams that they paid tribute to him. It is a major honor."

MacCloskey also mentioned that 2012 is the 20th anniversary of the scholarship MacCloskey created to honor Charles Addams.  Tax deductible donations to the scholarship should be made out to the Westfield Foundation.  In the memo, please write Addams Scholarship and mail it to:
