WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield-based New Jersey Festival Orchestra is gearing up for its “Home for the Holidays” concert on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield. With special guests the Franklin Elementary School Chorus, the concert will feature traditional and contemporary tunes, sing-a-longs and more.

“In the tradition of its highly anticipated holiday concert, the NJ Festival Orchestra offers well-known fare as well as curiosities to welcome in the sounds of the season,” said Music Director and conductor David Wroe. “Where would we be without Anderson's Sleigh Ride, or the atmospheric Ave Maria? We will offer familiar carols such as O holy Night and wonderful arrangements from Mannheim Steamroller.”

This year, because the concert will take place on Pearl Harbor Day, the performance will also pay tribute to the immeasurable commitment and sacrifice that the “Greatest Generation” demonstrated with Richard Rodgers' music from the movie Victory At Sea.

Classic movie-lovers can also look forward to music from It’s a wonderful life, including an Auld' lange syne audience sing-along.

“We believe there is something for everyone in this performance,” said Wroe. “But a central meaning of this program is a vessel for the community to come together and, through music, for children, parents, grandparents and friends to celebrate this unique time of the year.”
