PATERSON, NJ - Glenn Brown, the director of Paterson's police, fire and emergency management departments, said the rumors he wants to run for Passaic County Sheriff are not true.

"I'm satisfied with being police director in the third largest city in the state,''' Brown said in an interview on Thursday. "I have some unfinished work here that I need to get done. Right now, I'm dedicated to the men and women of the Paterson police department.''

Democrat Richard Berdnik is currently the Passaic County sheriff. A former Clifton police officer, Berdnik was elected to the position in 2010. The seat is up for a vote again this year and Berdnik is seeking re-election.

Brown, who previously worked in the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, acknowledged there had been talk that he was interested in the sheriff's position. But that's not in his plans, he said.
