MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The streets of Maplewood Village were filled with women of all ages who were out enjoying the seventh annual Girls Night Out on Thursday.
Organizers said it was a huge success, with more than 20 businesses participating in offerings that included a live DJ, a free photo booth outside of Perch, and lots of food and drink.
Collette Andrews and Allison Ziefert of Keller Williams Realty, the sponsor of Thursday's event, greeted and served drinks and snacks to several patrons. "It's a great time to get connected and mingle with residents," Andrews said.
"I agree," Ziefert said. "It's one of the things I love about living here."
Just up the street, Kenny Kerdock was giving away Figenza all-natural fig vodka cosmos at the Village Wine Shop. "We did a tasting here last year," he said. "Women particularly like this drink. We've been through three cases already."
The closed-off CODA Kitchen and Bar was a reminder of last week's tragic accident. Tip jars located throughout the event collected money for the workers currently unemployed.
Village Alliance Manager Julie Doran wrote in an email that the donations had reached $1,550, with several tip jars yet to be counted. Village Alliance will be leaving tip jars in the following locations all next week: Keller Williams Midtown Direct, St. James Gate, No. 165, The Tenth Muse Gallery, Village Wine Shop, Maple Leaf Diner, Highland Place and Anthony Garubo Salon.
