Garden of Eden: A Great Addition to Berkeley Heights

To the Editor,

As a Berkeley Heights resident I’m happy to add my voice in praise of our new grocery store, Garden of Eden. That it fills an otherwise gaping vacancy in the chain of stores along Springfield Avenue is the least of its benefits to our town. Having now shopped there several times I can honestly say I’m impressed with both the quality and the wide variety of its groceries.

Several items stick out in particular. The first is the superb value shoppers get for high-quality fruits and vegetables, especially their organic selection. A well-stocked dessert counter has cakes and pies of all types and sizes. An excellent array of “hot” and “cold” food is available for customers to take with them, which is especially useful if you’re on break from work or just don’t have time for a  sit down lunch. (I particularly recommend their Asian Pulled Pork.) The store also offers the kind of range for spreads, spices and other seasonings that previously would require local shoppers to travel several towns away to purchase. Their staff is friendly, and helpful too; on my most recent stop an employee not only helped me identify where a particular product I was looking for was but went with me to make sure I went to the right place.

Great businesses such as Garden of Eden are vital to the health and well being of Berkeley Heights. They not only improve our quality of life, but provide much-needed tax revenue that Town Hall won’t need to raise from taxing us. I strongly encourage my fellow residents, as well as those from neighboring towns, to check the store out for themselves and make an effort to shop there in future.
