Receptions are open to the public and offer an opportunity to meet local artists and become involved with the community. In addition to ongoing monthly art exhibits, Gallery U Boutique holds music performances, a monthly poetry reading series and other free events that are open to the public.
Gallery U Boutique is an extension of Universal Institute, a rehabilitation facility that services adults with traumatic brain injuries (TBI). The venue serves as a vocational training program whose goal is to introduce people with TBI back into the work force and community. Clients at Universal Institute take part in all aspects of running Gallery U Boutique. Vocational, occupational and cognitive therapies are conducted in their workrooms. By becoming involved in the Gallery U Boutique, TBI clients are afforded an opportunity to become involved with the community, learn new skills, and experience the transformative power of art through exposure to existing art and the ability to create their own art.
Folks at Gallery U Boutique strive to take an active part in Westfield and surrounding communities by collaborating with local businesses, non-profit organizations, schools, libraries, creative arts programs, community outreach programs, and any other viable venues.
