Future Auto Body and Collision Seized by State Department of Taxation to Top Police Blotter News for October 7-14

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The State Department of Taxation seized Future Auto Body and Collision on Main Street to top Police Blotter News for Oct. 7-14.
Shoplifting: Terrell White, 38, of Newark, was arrested at the Rite Aid on Main Street for attempting to steal $18 in Infant Advil.
Public Urination: Elmer Goins, 25, of New Providence, was issued a summons for public urination in Municipal Lot 4.
Theft of Property: The owner of a 2006 Peter Bilt reported the theft of 3 vehicle batteries valued at $450 from his truck parked on Meeker Street.
Found CDS: A student at WOHS turned over two baggies of suspected marijuana they found on a second floor landing.
Theft of Property: A woman contacted WOPD to report that her purse was stolen from Mayfair Farms on October 3. Inside the purse was $45 in case, an Apple IPhone, a Driver’s License, and health care cards.
Alleged Burglary to Residence: A homeowner on Sheridan Avenue reported the alleged theft of $10,000 in mostly $100 bills from their second floor after unknown suspect(s) entered through an unlocked door. Victim reported a home nurse was caring for her father inside the residence until August and a cleaning service cleaned the home every other Tuesday.
Simple Assault: A 21 year old female resident of West Orange reported that she was assaulted by a known party at the Main Street Rite Aid. Surveillance footage captured the incident. The victim was not injured.
Criminal Mischief to Motor Vehicle: A 2013 Honda parked on Ashland Avenue was scratched along the driver’s side with some type of tool. Her boyfriend’s vehicle was damaged in a similar fashion at the same time, and the victim believes it could be the result of an ongoing minor dispute with her upstairs neighbor. Both vehicles were parked on the same side of the street.
Theft of Property: A female reported the theft of her wallet from Shoprite after unloading groceries and leaving her handbag in the cart. She returned four hours later and retrieved the bag but the wallet was missing, which held $215 in currency, credit cards, and Medicare cards.
Criminal Mischief: The word “Char” was spray painted on the concrete driveway in blue paint on Riggs Place.
Possession of CDS: Vincent Caputo, 52 of Caldwell, was arrested on Alden Street when police observed him looking at what appeared to be wax folds of heroin. Caputo was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of CDS. A warrant check revealed outstanding warrants totaling $1,0450 in Woodland Park, Bloomfield and Caldwell.
Assist Other Agency: WOPD assisted the State Department of Taxation in the seizing of Future Auto Body at 239 Main Street. No other information was available at this time.
Theft of Bicycle: A Citgo gas station employee on Northfield Avenue reported the theft of his bicycle from the premises , along with his passport affixed in a plastic bag to the bicycle.
Incorrigible Juvenile: A 12 year old male juvenile was detained for attempting to steal 3 Beyblade toy packages from Kmart. He was not charged and was taken home to his mother.
Theft: Victim reported the theft of a rear driver’s side wheel assembly from his vehicle parked in the driveway of his home on Brook Place.
Defiant Trespassing Arrest: Joseph Anthony Mancuso, 56, of Newark, was arrested after refusing to leave Supreme Bakery on Main Street. Mancuso had been panhandling and would not leave.
Field Interview-CDS: Police observed a suspicious individual bundled up in a hooded sweatshirt in nearly 70 degree temperatures. They conducted a field interview and police asked him to take his hands out of his pockets. He hestitated. Police feared he had a weapon and guided his hands out of his pocket, and a large ziplock bag with 7 smaller bags of what was suspected to be marijuana, along with 51 small black ziplock bags and 57 small clear ziplock bags. The suspect was a 17 year old juvenile and police contacted his mother to take custody of him.
Possession of CDS: George Layton, 63, of West Orange, was arrested at the Degnan House Parking Lot at 430 Main Street as police observed him approaching a vehicle and engaging in what appeared to be a drug transaction. Police conducted a field interview and Layton tossed a bag from his pocket, which appeared to be crack cocaine.
Burglary to Building: The owner of 12 Washington Street reported that the building, under repair from a recent fire, was vandalized and copper plumbing removed from the basement.
Burglary/Theft from Motor Vehicle: WOPD responded to Cherry Street on a report of found property. Witness reported the discovery of a pocketbook and its contents scattered around her trash cans. The pocketbook and its contents belonged to a victim on Whittlesey Avenue, who told police that she had left her vehicle unsecured in front of her residence.
Aggravated Assault: Victim reported an assault by a group of 5 unknown black males – victim is an employee of the Manor and he was involved in a verbal dispute with another employee. The other employee asked him to step outside where the victim was jumped by the unknown suspects. Victim refused medical treatment and would not cooperate.
Disorderly Conduct/Arrest: Milton Morocho, 30, of Orange, was arrested at Las Palmeras on Valley Road after the owner reported an intoxicated patron was being unruly and refused to leave.
Aggravated Assault: Julio Quinones, 48, of Orange, was arrested at the Anchor Bar on Watchung Avenue after hitting another patron in the head with a beer bottle. The victim needed stitches.
Motor Vehicle Accident: A 15 year old West Orange resident was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Prospect Avenue at Guerino Drive. The juvenile hit the windshield after running in front of the car. The victim suffered a moderate injury, including bleeding, and was transported to the hospital. The incident is still under investigation.
