It’s that time of year again! The Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library are gearing up for their annual Book Sale. We’d like to first thank the community for generously donating so many items for this year’s sale.

The sale begins this weekend with our Children’s Sale on Saturday, March 9 from 9:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday from noon to 3:00pm. A wide variety of children’s and teens materials will be available, including books, CDs and DVDs. The children’s sale will carry over during the Giant Sale as well.

On Wednesday, March 13, there will be a member’s preview night from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Anyone who is a member of the Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library or Friends of the Fanwood Memorial Library is welcome to attend for a sneak peek at what we have to offer at the giant sale. New members may join at the door.

The Giant Sale opens to the public on Thursday, March 14 from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Thousands of used books will be on sale, with hardcover books priced as low as $2 and paperback books from 50¢. There will also be CDs, DVDs and audiobooks in a variety of genres, as well as specially priced rare and collectable books.

Friday, March 15 will be a Half-Price Sale from 9:00am to 4:00pm. All books will be half-price that day. On Saturday, March 16, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, the Giant Sale concludes with a $7 bag sale – fit as much as you can in a shopping bag for $7.

The annual Book Sale is the main fundraiser for Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library. Because of its success, the Friends are able to provide financial support for many of the Scotch Plains Public Library’s programs. Summer reading, e-reader lending, and our Big Read programs (just to name a few) would not be possible without the hard work of the Friends of the Library.
