Freshmen to Arrive at Seton Hall University on Thursday for Move-In Day

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Seton Hall University freshmen will move in to their residence halls on Thursday and upperclassmen will return to campus beginning on Friday, according to university officials.

Volunteers representing alumni, faculty, administrators, athletes, upperclassmen and student organizations will be on hand on for Thursday's Move-In Day at Aquinas and Boland halls to help students move in. The university’s website warns volunteers that “heavy lifting and standing for long periods of time will be part of your experience.”

The university is closing some campus parking lots on Tuesday night to set them up as staging areas for the heavy traffic expected on Thursday and Friday. According to the university, the village is relaxing parking restrictions on South Orange Avenue and adjacent streets on Thursday.

All freshmen will participate in Freshman Orientation/Pirate Weekend Friday through Sunday. Classes begin on Aug. 25. According to the program on the university’s website, students can eat dinner on campus and will attend their first residence hall floor meeting on Thursday night. The university Green will be the site of First Night Frenzy.

Freshmen will be treated to a picnic lunch on Friday on the Green and will attend a number of informational sessions. Mentalist Jim Karol will perform in the Main Lounge at 8 p.m. On Saturday, freshmen will attend sessions during the day and then participate in a Block Party with student leaders from the Student Activities Board and Greek Life.

The major event of the weekend will be New Student Convocation, scheduled for 2 p.m. in Walsh Gym. Afterward, students will celebrate Blue Day with live music, games and a carnival on the Green.
