SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- As part of National Better Hearing Month, audiologist Dr. Justin Lipp and Zounds Hearing will conduct free hearing screenings from Monday, May 12th through Monday, May 19th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Zounds on 1943 Route 22, Scotch Plains.

The process takes just a few minutes, and is open to any age group, no appointment necessary. Results and recommendations for next steps will be provided on site.

“Many people don’t acknowledge potential hearing loss, or postpone getting their hearing evaluated for as many as seven years once they notice symptoms,” said Dr. Lipp, who has helped patients pediatric to geriatric achieve better hearing through his expertise in diagnostic audiology and hearing aid technology. “The reasons include simple denial, cosmetics, and concern about cost.  Most insurances, including Medicare, do not cover the cost of hearing aids.”

“It’s never too early to be evaluated for hearing loss, especially if you have noticed any change in how you perceive the loudness or clarity of sounds,” Dr. Lipp added.

The first step in the process is a complete hearing evaluation. An evaluation is important for anyone who has noticed a decline in ability to understand conversations, discern spoken words against background noises, or hear a TV broadcast at an appropriate volume.

Zounds’ goal is to offer a portfolio of hearing aids and wireless devices that provide the world’s best performing technology at an affordable price to anyone with a mild, moderate, or moderate/severe hearing loss. For more information on the screenings, call 908-280-0479.
