Free EMT Training Available at PCCC

PATERSON, NJ - Passaic County Community College is offering short-term, no-cost training for qualifying applicants to become a state-certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Training is offered through the federally-funded Health Profession Opportunity Grant at PCCC. Both day and evening classes are available.
EMT careers offer strong demand for qualified workers. Trained individuals provide emergency medical care for people who have suffered accidents, assaults, heart-attack, stroke, or other injuries while transporting them to the hospital.
To be eligible for training, applicants must have US citizenship or permanent residency, be able to pass a criminal background check, have low-income status, including TANF and GA recipients, and have a high school diploma or GED and other academic qualifications, as well as reliable transportation to the training location.
Classes are held at the PCCC Public Safety Academy, 300 Oldham Road, Wayne, New Jersey. Daytime training classes start May 11, 2013. Evening classes start June 1, 2013. Both schedules include Saturday classes.
Applications are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Classes fill quickly, so early application is advised.
