Saturday, April 27, 2013 • 7:34pm
Up and coming artist Freddie Stevenson will perform at The Loft at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway on Saturday, May 4th at 8 p.m. Tickets are just $15 and can be purchased at www.ucpac.org. The concert is part of the on-going Split Level Concert Series which highlights critically acclaimed singer-songwriters in a uniquely intimate setting.
Stevenson, long a fan favorite at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York City, is a British/American singer-songwriter from Edinburgh, currently living and working in Manhattan. A natural born storyteller, he trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. His songs and live solo performances are an hypnotic mix of poetry, humor and eerily beautiful tunes that leave the listener’s imagination soaring.
Stevenson has recorded three studio albums, the most recent being 2011's The City Is King. Coining the phrase 'Blongs' meaning a ''blog of a song,'' he's recorded over one-hundred bedroom recordings, many of which have been recently collected in The 50 Song Book, a beautiful hardcover book filled with original written lyrics. Fans can look forward to the release of Blongs 51-100 in the near future.
Freddie has been joined onstage by some of the finest musicians worldwide - from London, Stockholm, Nashville, New York, Ireland and Scotland - namely, Mike Scott and Steve Wickham of the Waterboys, James Maddock, Brady Blade, Chris Donoghue, David Luther, John Perry, Phil Madeira, and Teddy Kumpel, to name a few. Mr. Kumpel will join Freddie on 6-string banjo for the May 4th performance.
Upcoming Split Level Concerts include:
