Flood Warning Continues Sunday; West Essex Area Weather for May 4

FLOOD WARNING
At 8:25 p.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a River Flood Warning for the Passaic River at Pine Brook in Fairfield. The Warning is expected to be in effect until further notice. The advisory was issued due to the river rising above the flood stage Thursday. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Do not attempt to drive through flooded areas. The water may be deeper than you think.

During the flood stage, Eagle Rock Avenue in Roseland, along with Broadway Lane, Camp Lane Road, River Edge Drive, Stewart Place and Two Bridges Road in Fairfield are all subject to flooding.

The following information is according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Advanced Hydrolic Prediction Service, for the Passaic River at Pine Brook:

  • As of 12:45am Sunday, the Passaic River at Pine Brook water level is at 19.94 feet
  • The river at this location floods at 19 feet    
  • The river crested at 20.2 feet on Friday evening, and will gradually become lower in level.
