Fire at Belmont Towers

PATERSON, NJ - Firefighters evacuated much of the Belmont Towers early Thursday morning when a two-alarm fire started on the roof, officials said.

No one was hurt in the blaze, which was under control about 45 minutes after it was reported at 6:30 am, firre officials said.

More than a dozens residents could not return to their homes because of smoke and water damage, officials said.

Authorities have not determined what caused the blaze, or whether it was connected to damage from the hurricane.
