Fire at 1480 Pleasant Valley Way Unit 29 in West Orange; Structure Uninhabitable

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Fire Department was dispatched at 1:53 p.m. on Saturday to a reported structure fire at 1480 Pleasant Valley Way, Unit 29.  While en route, the police department reported heavy smoke conditions and that a person was trapped inside the structure.  The victim, 50 years old, was heard moaning on the kitchen floor and was removed by Detective Keith Boryseskne and assisted by Officer Jerome Pleasants. 

Engine three was was first to arrive and reported a smoke condition on the first and second floor.  The fire was located in the basement and extinguished.  The Livingston First Aid Squad and Monoc Medic 254 transported both civilians and police officers to St. Barnabas for smoke inhalation.

All West Orange Fire Department units were on the scene.  Montclair, Orange and East Orange fire department units covered the town while West Orange fire department units were on scene. 

The home is currently uninhabitable.
