WEST ORANGE, NJ - Fifty-one West Orange High School students, mostly juniors, were inducted into the National Honor Society in a ceremony held in the school auditorium on May 21.

Welcoming remarks were made by West Orange High School Principal Hayden Moore and Interim Superintendent James O'Neill, who noted how these students, who excel not only academically but in the culture of the school and in the community, were "time management experts" that have learned to work cooperatively and determinately.

"You all possess these characteristics, and they will ensure your future success as you move on from West Orange High School," O'Neill said.

The NHS officers: Jalisa Delauney, President; Kerrian Johnson, Vice-President; Lindsay Thomas, Secretary; and Julia Rucko, Treasurer, spoke on the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

Jessica Nuzzi and Anna McDonnell, NHS Co-advisors, led the students in the induction oath and presented each one with a certificate.

The next few weeks will be a flurry of events as graduation draws near for the seniors at the high school, with several scholarship award programs planned, yearbook signing, and more.
