Children enter Imagine’s “volcano room” on a Night of Support. With its padded floors and walls and many pillows, the room is a safe place to let go of loud, intense, often physical and wordless feelings of grief. WESTFIELD, NJ — Ferraro’s of Westfield is helping families at Imagine, a Center for Coping with Loss, get together for support by making it easy for customers to donate pizzas through the restaurant’s online ordering system.
With the click of a button, you can donate a large pizza for the discounted price of $9.50. From ferrarosrestaurant.com, click “Order Online,” then click “Start Ordering,” then choose “Imagine Donations” from the top line of selections.
A pizza supper is provided for families on every Night of Support at Imagine. (Volunteers often bake and donate dessert.) Nights of Support take place once a week during the summer and twice a week during the school year.
“The pizza supper makes it easier for a newly bereaved family to attend and is one less thing a family has to worry about when they are coming from work or home and juggling everyone's schedules,” said Mary Robinson, executive director of Imagine.
“It's been so cool when we go to place an order and discover three out of the ten pies we are ordering have been donated,” she said.
Supper at Imagine is a time of support and fellowship with other families that gives them a chance to catch their breath and transition from their day to time with their support group, according to Robinson.
“We purchase 10 to 15 pies every week at Imagine and having people donate a pizza helps us out a lot. Our budget for dinner for Nights of Support in 2013 is $7,800, and having pies donated has been a great savings for Imagine.”
