The History & Preservation of Stained Glass Windows
PATERSON, NJ - The Paterson Historic Preservation Commission and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church are sponsoring a program on the history and preservation of Stained Glass Windows on Sun., Feb. 26 at 2 pm a the main branch of the Paterson library at 250 Broadway.
Many of Paterson’s beautiful and historic churches include striking and unique stained glass windows of outstanding quality and beauty. This event will feature an exciting presentation by Donald Samick, the President of Lamb Studios. He is a nationally-recognized expert in the history and preservation of historic stained glass and president of the oldest continuously-operating stained glass studio in the United States. Following Mr. Samick’s presentation, representatives from the Partners for Sacred Places and the City of Paterson Historic Preservation Commission will provide further information on meeting preservation challenges for the leaders and stewards of Paterson’s historic churches.
Partners for Sacred Places has previously introduced their unique New Dollars / New Partnerstraining program which aims to assist and develop leadership within the congregations of historic churches. The new skills and relationships congregations can develop support and focus efforts on preservation and continuing significant outreach and community service. This will be an opportunity to renew dialogue among the congregations of Paterson’s historic churches who are interested in and excited about participating in the New Dollars / New Partners program.
The event will be held in the Assembly Room of the Paterson Library (2nd Floor) at 250 Broadway on Sunday, February 26th. Parking is available in the rear of the Library in an enclosed lot on Van Houten Street. The event will begin at 2:00 PM and last until approximately 4:00PM. All are invited and welcome to attend.
