Fatal Crash Early Saturday Morning on Rt. 280, Roseland; Young Woman Killed

ROSELAND, NJ - According to Roseland Police Chief Richard McDonough, at 4:03 a.m. Saturday morning, police began receiving 911 calls regarding a serious car accident which occurred on Route 280. When police arrived they found a vehicle traveling west had gone off the road at Exit 4 and crashed into a tree. The NJ State PoliceRoseland Fire Department and the Roseland First Aid Squad also responded.

NJ State Trooper Jeff Flynn reported that the driver, Gina Espana, 21, from Morristown, was killed at the scene. 

"When units arrived, we found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames," McDonough stated. "The driver, who was alone in then car, was sadly killed in the crash and has not yet been identified."

Apparently the young woman had been driving on Route 280 when her car went over the curb, down a hill about 100 feet and finally crashed into a section of trees. The State Police are conducting the investigation and have not yet released any further news.
