Fanwood Poetry Reading features Martin Jude Farawell, Sept. 17
FANWOOD, NJ – The Carriage House Poetry Series invites the public to attend a free event on Tuesday, September 17th at 8:00 p.m. in the Kuran Arts Center on Watson Road, off North Martine Avenue, adjacent to Fanwood Borough Hall (GPS use 75 N. Martine Avenue). Martin Jude Farawell, the distinguished poet and playwright, will be the featured reader.
Martin Jude Farawell’s poems have appeared in a wide range of literary journals and anthologies. His plays have been produced in regional, university, off-off-Broadway and community theaters from South Africa to Washington State, including The George Street Playhouse. Born in Jersey City, he is a graduate of New York University’s Creative Writing Program. Author of the book “Genesis: A Sequence of Poems,” he taught composition, creative writing, poetry and literature for ten years on the secondary school and college levels, and is an experienced visiting artist-in-the-schools. Martin was named Director of the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Program in 2009.
The Carriage House Poetry Series is in its 15th year at the Kuran Arts Center, an historic Gothic Revival structure that was once a 19th century carriage house, hence the name of the series. The Sept. 17th reading is free and open to the public. An open mic reading will follow the featured performance.
