Fanwood Artist Receives Honorable Mention at Freeholder's Gallery

ELIZABETH, NJ – Fanwood artist Giselle Valdes recently received an Intermediate Honorable Mention at a display of award winning artwork from Union County employees and their families, hosted by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The exhibit is held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays through July 15 at the Freeholders' Gallery, located on the sixth floor of the Union County Administration Building, Elizabethtown Plaza at Rahway Avenue in Elizabeth.

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders has held the exhibit for several years in a partnership with the National Arts Program Foundation. Although only 16 pieces of artwork are selected for the display, Valdes's artwork was honored for becoming part of over 144 creations that recently participated in the 12th annual National Arts Program Exhibit and Contest for Union County Employees and their Families .

"I am very excited and honored," Valdes said, expressing her feelings for receiving the Honorable Mention. "It gives me something to work for because people appreciate my artwork and the feedback encourages me to keep going".

Additionally, Freeholder Chairman Linda Carter expressed her feelings for Valdes' and the other Union County employees' artwork with their families in the exhibit.

"The artistic talent of our Union County employees and their family members is very impressive," said Carter. "We have artists who excel in painting, photography, and other visual arts and we are proud to put their work on display".

Valdes has won various awards for her artwork and for jewelry design and is very talented. She currently works at a courtroom at the Sherriff's office in Union County.
