First Congregational Church of Westfield resumes its annual adult studies series this fall with two programs examining major events in the present day and in church history.  All evenings are free and open to the public.

The popular “Faith and the Front Page” series returns on Monday, October 7, with a look at major current events from a faith perspective.  The Trayvon Martin case, turmoil in Egypt, and landmark Supreme Court decisions on voting and same-sex marriage are just some of the significant news stories that will be discussed.  The five-week course will continue on consecutive Monday evenings through November 4 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the church’s Chapel Lounge.

On Tuesday evenings beginning October 8, “The Reformation” will take a look at the turbulent period that would someday inspire the creation of the United Church of Christ.  Over five-weeks, the course will examine Martin Luther, John Calvin and the major figures and events behind this vital time of protest and upheaval.  The series will continue on consecutive Tuesday evenings through November 5 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the church’s Chapel Lounge.

First Congregational Church, a member of the United Church of Christ, is located at 125 Elmer Street in Westfield.  For additional information, contact the church office at (908) 233-2494 or their website at www.fccofwestfield.org.
